PRODUCTION NOTES

TIME AND TRUTH was recorded at HOUSE OF BLUES STUDIOS, NASHVILLE in November of 2014 with additional overdubs recorded at DOGWOOD STUDIOS. The opening line of the title track, TIME AND TRUTH, comes from the start of a song my co-writer, CHRIS CRAWFORD, and I started back in 2003. I always loved it and one day in 2014, I sat down and wrote the rest, music and all. Sometimes it takes a good long while to make sense of a song. PIPERS is a criticism of the media, the 2008 financial crisis, and politics. I had most of the lyric but did not have any music, but CHRIS CAMINITI and I had this driving rock progression we wrote one night in his kitchen just sitting around as a voice memo on my phone and I used it to frame the lyric. The song is a little angry and cynical and I think the music captures spirit of the lyric. I wrote INNOCENTS in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting. I am deeply saddened that we seem to accept the loss of human life to gun violence and seem to be unwilling to work towards a solution. The lyric to THE LOST CAUSE was written on a flight home from Myanmar (Burma). It is a country that has suffered for decades at the hands of corrupt military rule and a repressive government. Yet, the people are warm and friendly and never give up hope for a brighter future. I began I BELIEVE as a simple list of what’s important to me and it grew from the simple to the universal, you might say it’s my personal creed.
