PRODUCTION NOTES

WHAT GRACE was recorded at OCEAN WAY NASHVILLE RECORDING STUDIOS and BLACKBIRD STUDIOS in April and June of 2018 respectively. The song is a reflection of my thinking about grace. What is it? What does it mean? Why is it an important word to me? My earliest memories of the word come from my childhood and family saying “grace” before dinner each night. There has been much written about grace in both religious and spiritual sense but I don’t believe we need to limit it to this context. I believe grace is the the guide best used to move through the world. Whether in times of joy, success, sadness, failure, challenge, or ease; grace is our greatest tool. My lyric on reasserts this ancient, but timeless, and still relevant meaning to the human experience. BOBBY CAMPBELL laid down beautiful synth pads as he did all throughout this project-he is so good at serving the song. JERRY MCPHERSON provides a warm electric pass and the TOM BUKOVAC grittier pass and solo add a needed edge to the track. JASON ESKRIDGE, ERIN McCARLEY, and PERRY COLEMAN added the beautiful and angelic vocal harmonies. I’ve learned so much by aspiring to live with grace, and I fail often, but it’s a worthy aspiration.
